Calculated cycle = production time / units produced; measured mode uses the entered observation. Comparison uses the visible tolerance around takt time.

Results use only visible inputs. OEE thresholds are configurable references, never universal standards. Downtime costs are scenario estimates, not accounting measurements; avoid adding a cost already included in the unit value or contribution margin.

Production Cycle Time Calculator

Calculation method

Calculated mode divides production time by units produced; measured mode uses the direct observation. Comparison applies the visible tolerance band around takt.

Formulas used

  • Cycle time = production time / units produced
  • Production rate = 3,600 / cycle seconds

Worked example

Example: 420 minutes for 700 units gives 36 s/unit, or 100 units/h.

How to interpret the result

Cycle below takt indicates nominal capacity faster than demand; cycle above takt indicates a capacity gap under the entered conditions.

Common mistakes

  • Averaging unlike products without weighting.
  • Including downtime inconsistently in production time.

  • The result does not model variability, changeovers, starvation or blocking.
